Manchester United faced off against Southampton at Old Trafford earlier tonight hoping to secure all three points at home. The Red Devils found themselves at a numerical advantage in the second minute when Alex Jankewitz was sent off by the referee. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men took advantage of the situation and took the lead in the 18th minute courtesy of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s finish from close range. Man United doubled their advantage just seven minutes later when Marcus Rashford found the back of the net. In the 34th minute, Jan Bednarek scored an unfortunate own goal which killed the game off. Edinson Cavani added another goal soon after to give his side a commanding 4-0 lead at half-time.
The Red Devils banged in five more goals in the second 45 minutes courtesy of a brace from Anthony Martial and a goal each from Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes and Daniel James as the match finished 9-0 in favour of the Mancunian giants.
Let’s take a look at how each Man United player fared during the clash against the Saints.
GK: David de Gea – 7/10
The Spaniard had one save to make in the game and cruised to an easy clean sheet at the Theatre of Dreams.
RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 8.5/10
Wan-Bissaka opened the goal-scoring for Man United via a tidy finish from close range. He didn’t put a foot wrong in the game when defending inside his half and was lively going forward as well.
CB: Victor Lindelof – 7/10
He was hardly tested during the game and secured a comfortable shutout at the back.
CB: Harry Maguire – 7/10
The English centre-back passed the ball relatively well when playing his way out from defence. He didn’t have to do too much defending throughout the 90 minutes.
LB: Luke Shaw – 8.5/10
Shaw picked up two great assists during the clash. He also engineered a few more promising chances for his teammates to score but got replaced at half-time.
CM: Scott McTominay – 8/10
He bossed the game at the centre of the park and got rewarded with a goal in the second half.

RW: Marcus Rashford – 8/10
The English speedster scored a good goal midway through the first half and got substituted near the hour mark.
CAM: Bruno Fernandes – 9/10
The Portuguese playmaker caused all kinds of problems for the Southampton defenders. He has got two assists and one goal to show for his efforts during the 90 minutes.
LW: Mason Greenwood – 8/10
Greenwood gave a good account of himself in the attacking third. He ended the game with an assist to his name but will be disappointed for not registering his name on the scoresheet.
ST: Edinson Cavani – 8/10
The Uruguayan sensation scored Man United’s fourth goal just before the half-time break. He got subbed and didn’t feature in the second half.
