Liverpool will entertain Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield on Wednesday night as they look to pick up another three points and keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. The Reds have won back to back matches in the league, so we can expect them to be fairly confident about earning another win in midweek.
Jurgen Klopp will set his team up in a 4-3-3 formation and could make a few tweaks to his frontline. Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might replace Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri in Klopp’s starting XI as Sadio Mane is unlikely to recover in time for this clash.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Brighton
Defence
Alisson Becker will function as Liverpool’s first-choice keeper after conceding one goal in each of his past two league starts. Jordan Henderson will continue to feature as a makeshift centre-half alongside Nathaniel Phillips at the heart of the Reds backline. They will have to find a way to restrict the Seagulls from creating too many chances on the counter.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will be a nailed-on starter at right-back while Andrew Robertson fills in on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will be given the license to get forward at every chance they get so that they can provide enough ammunition to the front players.
Rhys Williams and Neco Williams will be named on the bench as they offer some added depth for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Klopp might opt for the same midfield that started versus West Ham United last weekend. Hence, the experienced trio of James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum and Thiago Alcantara will make up the Reds midfield as they focus on dominating possession and engineering some clear-cut opportunities for their teammates to score.
Curtis Jones and Xherdan Shaqiri will have to settle for a spot on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the final quarter of the game if required.
Attack
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could get a rare start on the left flank after his impressive cameo off the bench versus the Hammers last weekend. Roberto Firmino got a rest at the London Stadium, so the Brazilian striker will be fresh and ready to lead the charge for the Merseyside giants down the middle.
Mohamed Salah will hope to weave his magic as the right-winger after scoring two exceptional goals in his last league appearance. Therefore, he will be licking his lips ahead of this midweek showdown against Graham Potter’s men.
Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino will be available for selection on the Liverpool bench.
