West Ham United will take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Wednesday night as they look to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat versus Liverpool last weekend. Despite that loss, the Hammers have enjoyed a decent run of form in the Premier League this year and will be confident about getting something out of this game against the Villans.
David Moyes will once again set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a couple of tweaks to his first-team for this league clash on the road. Both Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko could get a start as Moyes looks to rest Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals on the bench.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
Łukasz Fabiański will operate in goal for the Hammers after allowing three goals versus the Reds in his last league appearance. Craig Dawson will continue to partner Angelo Ogbonna at the centre of the West Ham backline as they look to restrict Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins from finding the back of the net during the 90 minutes.
Vladimír Coufal will get the nod to impress at right-back while Aaron Cresswell tries to put on another industrious performance on the other side as the left-back. Moyes will instruct both of them to keep a good shape at the back so that they can stop the Villans from getting in behind them out on the wide areas.
Issa Diop and Ryan Fredericks will have to be content with a place on the bench.
Midfield
Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice will operate as the holding midfielders. They will focus on breaking down some of the Villa attacks and also fashion a few promising chances for their teammates in the final third. The technically gifted trio of Said Benrahma, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko will play just ahead of them as part of Moyes’ attack.
As mentioned earlier, both Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals could get a rest on the bench but might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if West Ham are in need of a goal.
Attack
Michail Antonio will be guaranteed a start as the centre-forward up top. The English speedster didn’t manage to register his name on the scoresheet versus Liverpool but might fancy his chances of scoring when he laces up to face off against the Villans defenders in midweek.
