West Ham United entertained Liverpool at the London Stadium earlier tonight hoping to pick up a win and continue their strong run of form in the Premier League. Both the sides headed into the clash in high spirits; however, it was the visitors who emerged victorious in the clash. Flashes of brilliance from Mohammed Salah put the Reds in a comfortable position as they found themselves leading 2-0 by the 70-minute-mark. Later on, it was Wijnaldum who converted a simple tap-in to seal the win. However, the hosts struck back with a late goal as Craig Dawson converted from a corner.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham player performed during the clash versus the Reds.
Lukasz Fabianski – 5/10
The Polish shot-stopper didn’t have much to do in the first-half but he ended up conceding three goals in the second forty-five minutes. He should have done better to stop the first goal of the game.
Vladimir Coufal – 5.5/10
The Czech international was mainly focused on the defensive side of his game tonight as he put up an average performance down the right-hand side.
Craig Dawson – 6.5/10
The English centre-back made some crucial blocks and clearances in the first half, but flashes of brilliance from Mohammed Salah created huge problems for the entire defence. Nonetheless, he scored a goal late into the second-half from a set-piece situation.
Angelo Ogbonna – 5/10
The Italian defender failed to keep things in order at the back as everything came crashing down around the 57-minute-mark.
Aaron Cresswell – 5.5/10
The Englishman should have stayed tighter to Salah in the second forty-five minutes.
Tomas Soucek – 5.5/10
Soucek occasionally got into the opposition box, looking for crosses from either wing; however, he dropped back into his own half to protect the ‘back-four’ when needed.
Declan Rice – 6/10
Declan Rice showed the willingness to win the ball and initiate counter-attacks as he didn’t refrain from putting tough challenges at the centre of the park.
Jarrod Bowen – 5.5/10
Bowen should have made better decisions in the final third.
Pablo Fornals – 6/10
The Spanish playmaker looked threatening when on the ball in the opposition half, but couldn’t produce anything meaningful throughout the match.
Said Benrahma – 5/10
The Algerian international was constantly trying to find Michail Antionio via early passes but had little to no joy in doing so.
Michail Antonio – 6/10
The English forward didn’t have much space to work with, but he made good use of whatever he was provided with. His movements were hugely hampered by the 23-year-old Nathaniel Phillips.
SUBSTITUTES:
Ryan Fredericks – 5.5/10
He played a few good passes, but that’s all he had to offer.
Andriy Yarmolenko – 5.5/10
The Ukrainian midfielder didn’t look threatening at all.
Mark Noble – 6/10
Provided the Hammers with some extra energy at the centre of the park.
