Leeds United are hoping to continue their positive momentum when they take on Leicester City on Sunday. The Whites could be in for a difficult game against a side who are flying high at the moment, though things tend to even out when they are up against quality sides. So it will be interesting to see whether Marcelo Bielsa can tactically outclass Brendan Rodgers’ men this weekend.
Predicted Leeds United Lineup Vs Leicester City
Defence
Diego Llorente picked up yet another unfortunate injury in the game against Newcastle United, so he remains unlikely to start while Robin Koch will continue his spell on the sidelines. It means Pascal Struijk could get another starting opportunity – this time at centre-back, alongside club captain Liam Cooper as they look to retain a rare clean sheet.
Luke Ayling is also another option for Bielsa in central defence, should the Argentine prefer more experience. But, we are expecting Ayling to continue in his favoured right-back position. There might be a change in the opposite flank, though with Stuart Dallas coming in for Ezgjan Alioski.
Illan Meslier had an enjoyable game after returning to the pitch last time out. The Frenchman is a guaranteed starter in goal and will brace himself for a busier evening this weekend.
Midfield
Mateusz Klich had to settle for a place on the bench against Newcastle United due to a yellow card precaution. But with Leeds United having played 19 Premier League games already, the Pole’s previous four yellow cards will be redundant. As a result, we are likely to see him get back into the starting eleven. It is also a reason why Dallas could shift into his old left-back position.
Klich, in the slightly advanced midfield role, will be aided by Kalvin Phillips at number six while Rodrigo Moreno will operate as an out and out number ten, hoping to provide the creativity to the table for the Whites.
Attack
Bielsa is unlikely to make any changes in the attacking department as Raphinha and Jack Harrison continue in the wider offensive roles. The onus will be on these two to provide the supply for Patrick Bamford, though Leeds United do have plenty of alternatives including Tyler Roberts, Ian Poveda and Helder Costa while Alioski can also operate on the left flank.
