Manchester United will lock horns with arch-rivals Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday night hoping to pick up a positive result and return to their winning ways in the Premier League. The Red Devils fell prey to Chris Wilder’s men midweek as they lost 2-1 at the Old Trafford whereas the Gunners made a stunning comeback to emerge victorious at the St. Mary’s.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will probably opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation with a number of tweaks from the last game. Scott McTominay might get the nod over Nemanja Matic whereas Victor Lindelof looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs Arsenal
Defence
David de Gea will operate in between the sticks for the upcoming away encounter. Having made a fatal mistake in his last game, the Spanish shot-stopper will be determined to turn things around this weekend.
Victor Lindelof will replace Axel Tuanzebe to form the centre-half partnership with Harry Maguire at the heart of United’s backline. The skipper certainly felt the Swedish defender’s absence against the Blades as he failed to coordinate properly with Tuanzebe for the majority of the game.
However, Eric Bailly, who was left out of the squad that faced Sheffield United on Wednesday, remains a concern ahead of the clash.
“Eric was down to play this game but he got a bang yesterday and is sore and bruised, it’s unfortunate for him.” – Solskjaer told MUTV.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a guaranteed starter at the right-back position whereas Luke Shaw will return to fill in on the other flank as the left-back.
Midfield
As mentioned earlier, Scott McTominay will replace Nemanja Matic in the defensive midfield position to bring the much-needed defensive coverage to United’s ‘back-four’. Paul Pogba will start in the central midfield position, hoping to impress against Mikel Arteta’s side.
Bruno Fernandes will slot into the attacking midfield role. The Portuguese playmaker tried his level best to turn things around against Sheffield; however, he failed to reach his usual high standards.
He’ll be accompanied by Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on either side, playing on the left and right-wing respectively.
Donny van de Beek might have to settle for a place on the bench but might come on in the latter stages of the game if called upon.
Attack
Edinson Cavani will lead the line for the visitors against Arsenal. The Uruguayan striker has shown some tremendous work-rate lately and will be eager to get his name on the scoresheet against Mikel Arteta’s men.
