Liverpool entertained Manchester United at Anfield earlier tonight. The game looked monotonous for larger parts of the first half as Roberto Firmino managed to get the only shot on target for the home side whereas Bruno Fernandes came close to breaking the deadlock from a direct free-kick. The second forty-five saw more free-flowing football; however, none of the teams managed to find the back of the net as the game ended 0-0.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player fared during the match against the Reds.
David De Gea – 7/10
The Spanish shot-stopper had very little to do throughout the match. Nonetheless, he came out on top whenever tested.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10
The English defender was caught out of position on a couple of occasions, but it was almost impossible for Sadio Mane to get past him down the right flank.
Victor Lindelof – 7/10
The Swedish centre-half partnered well with Harry Maguire as he kept things solid defensively. He made some crucial blocks and clearances to help his side.
Harry Maguire – 8/10
The English centre-back had some nervy moments against the Liverpool frontmen in the early stages but exerted his dominance at the back as the game went on.
Luke Shaw – 7.5/10
Shaw put up a strong performance in both halves of the pitch as he did well to deal with the likes of Mohammed Salah down the left and simultaneously made some good attacking runs to put the Reds on the backfoot. Nearly managed to get himself an assist as well.
Scott McTominay – 7.5/10
The Scottish international’s ball retention at the centre of the park was decent overall. He showed some aggression as well.
Fred – 7/10
The Brazilian midfielder looked sharp with his passes and exhibited a commanding display in the holding midfield position.
Paul Pogba – 5.5/10
The Frenchman looked a bit uncomfortable outside of his natural position as he left his targets unmarked on several occasions.
Marcus Rashford – 6.5/10
The Englishman made some brilliant runs to slice open Klopp’s defence but failed to make the right decisions in the end. Besides, he was struggling to keep himself onside time and again.
Bruno Fernandes – 6.5/10
The Portuguese playmaker failed to keep up with his usual standards tonight. He was denied by Allison from close range before being finally taken off for Greenwood at the 89th minute.
Anthony Martial – 6/10
The French international never really got much of the ball to produce or create anything. Was subbed off for Cavani at the 60-minute-mark.
SUBSTITUTES:
Edinson Cavani – 6/10
Cavani provided his team with some extra energy going forward.
Mason Greenwood – N/A
It was too late when he came on.
