Everton will face off against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium on Tuesday night hoping to pick up maximum points on their travels. The Toffees managed to earn a hard-fought 2-1 win over Rotherham in the third round of the FA Cup, which will give them some confidence going into this midweek clash in the Premier League.
Carlo Ancelotti will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and could be inclined to make a whole host of changes to his first-team for this upcoming league encounter at the West Midlands. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was rested on Saturday, so he will be ready to lead the charge for the Merseyside outfit up top.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Jordan Pickford will return in between the sticks for the Toffees after he was rotated versus the Millers. Yerry Mina will function alongside Michael Keane at the centre of the Everton backline as they look to stop Wolves’ Fabio Silva from scoring throughout the 90 minutes.
Mason Holgate will once again assume the duties of a makeshift right-back while Ben Godfrey fills in on the other side as a makeshift left-back. Ancelotti will ask both of them to maintain a solid defensive shape at the back so that they can restrict Wolves from creating too many problems out on the wide areas.
Midfield
Tom Davies will play along with Abdoulaye Doucoure at the centre of the park as they focus on anchoring the midfield and disrupting the opposition’s rhythm on the field. The gifted trio of Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and James Rodriguez will feature just ahead of them as part of Ancelotti’s attack.
Doucoure managed to get his name on the scoresheet against Rotherham last Saturday, which will keep him in high spirits heading into this midweek clash at the Molineux. Andre Gomes and Alex Iwobi will make up the numbers on the Toffees bench as they wait for their chance to shine as the impact substitutes in the second half if required.
Attack
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will lead the line for the Merseyside club upfront. The English striker needs a goal to build his confidence back up following his barren run in front of the opponent’s goal of late. Cenk Tosun will be available for selection on the bench and could influence the game in the latter stages if Ancelotti decides to call upon his services.
