The Lilywhites entertained Leeds United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier tonight. The home side put up a strong display against the Whites’ defence as Kane, Son, and Alderweireld managed to get their names on the scoresheet. Spurs’ win means that they now sit 10th in the points table, just 4 points off league leaders Liverpool.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player fared during the game against Leeds United.
Hugo Lloris -7/10
The French shot-stopper had some important saves to make in both halves of the game. Backed up his performance with a clean sheet in the end.
Matt Doherty -5.5/10
The Irish full-back had some worrying moments against Jack Harrison in the early stages of the match, but made himself comfortable in more of a defensive position as the game went on. However, a late challenge on Hernandez saw him getting sent off for a second bookable offence.
Toby Alderweireld -8/10
The Belgian centre-back exploited the visitors’ weakness from set-pieces as he brilliantly scored the third goal of the game from Son Heung-min’s corner. He was a dominant figure at the back as well.
Eric Dier -7/10
The English defender played a key role to help his side secure a clean sheet. Won some important aerial duels and made some crucial clearances to make things easier for the home side.
Ben Davies -7/10
Did whatever he could to break Leeds’ buildup down the right flank. The Englishman made a few ambitious runs into the opposition half, but they were of little to no use.
Harry Winks -6.5/10
The English midfielder’s ball distribution was decent as he kept looking for ways to keep the attack moving. Protected the backline by absorbing pressure time and again.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg -7.5/10
The Danish international was a vital cog in Mourinho’s system as he won several duels to regain possession at the centre of the park. Started posing more attacking threats in the latter stages of the game.
Steven Bergwijn -7/10
The Dutchman was quick to capitalise on Illan Meslier’s misplaced pass as he attracted a foul from Alioski to win his side an important penalty. He looked sharp and dangerous throughout the 90 minutes.
Tanguy Ndombele -6.5/10
His quick feet helped Spurs to keep hold of the ball in and around the opposition box. However, he failed to convert a close-range opportunity early in the second half.
Son Heung-min -9/10
The South-Korean winger kept running into all the right spaces to slice open Leeds’ defence before he finally put one past Illan Meslier to make it 2-0. Got himself an assist as he put a brilliant cross into the box from a corner, which was converted by Toby Alderwiered.
Harry Kane -9/10
The English striker kept his cool to convert the penalty and make it 1-0 at the 29-minute-mark. His movement created all sorts of problems for Bielsa’s defence as he set up a goal for Son just two minutes before the half-time whistle.
SUBSTITUTES:
Lucas Moura -6/10
The Brazilian international came on for Tanguy Ndombele as a part of Mourinho’s routine substitution. He provided his teammates with some extra energy going forward.
Moussa Sissoko -6/10
Slotted in as a holding midfielder and helped Spurs to keep hold of the ball in the middle of the park.
Carlos Vinicius NA
It was too late for him to try and make an impact.
