Everton entertained West Ham United at the Goodison Park earlier tonight. Both the sides lacked ambition as they failed to create quality chances throughout the game; however, it was Tomas Soucek who broke the deadlock at the 86th minute as Cresswell’s shot took a deflection off Yerry Mina and fell into the Czech international’s path. A win for the Hammers means that they now sit 10th in the points table.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham United player fared during the match against Everton.
Darren Randolph – 6.5/10
The Irish stot-stopper didn’t have much to do all game but he made a good save to deny Bernard right before half-time. Backed up his performance with an important clean sheet.
Vladimir Coufal -7/10
The Czech full-back had some nervy moments against Bernard in the first half but did considerably well to regain control in the second forty-five minutes. Coufal’s attacking gameplay was impressive as his overlapping runs and deliveries into the box created menace down Everton’s left flank.
Craig Dawson – 7/10
The 30-year-old defender kept the ‘back-four’ in shape and covered for Coufal time and again. He made some key interceptions to stop Everton’s attack from progressing through the central areas.
Angelo Ogbonna -7.5 /10
The Italian centre-back was a dominant figure at the back as he managed to keep Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin quiet throughout the game. He won some important headers and made some crucial clearances to keep things in control.
Aaron Cresswell – 8/10
The English left-back looked impressive both defensively and offensively throughout the 90 minutes. Launched a powerful shot towards Pickford deep into the second-half which took a deflection off Yerry Mina and fell into the path of Tomas Soucek, who then slotted it past Pickford to give visitors the lead.
Declan Rice – 6.5/10
The English midfielder worked tirelessly in both halves of the pitch to make things easier for his side.
Tomas Soucek -8.5/10
Soucek was at the right place at the right time as he found himself on the end of Aaron Cresswell’s deflected shot to put the ball past Jordan Pickford.
Pablo Fornals -6/10
The Spanish international failed to impress on the left-wing. He could hardly be seen on the ball and struggled to create chances for his team.
Said Benrahma -5.5/10
The Algerian international looked lacklustre tonight as he misplaced a number of passes and gave away the ball way too many times.
Jarrod Bowen -7/10
Majority of West Ham’s attacking gameplay progressed down the right-hand side and it’ll be fair to say that the Englishman played a major role in it. He was constantly looking for opportunities to exploit the space behind Ben Godfrey, who was given a more advanced role than usual.
Sebastien Haller -6/10
The ex-Frankfurt striker was completely outclassed by Yerry Mina as the Colombian centre-back starved him off service for as long as he was on the pitch.
SUBSTITUTES:
Michail Antonio -6.5/10
A decent performance after coming off the bench. Had a good chance to make it 2-0 in the injury time but failed to do so.
Manuel Lanzini -6/10
Took up a defensive position in the dying moments of the game to keep the lead intact.
Andriy Yarmolenko -6/10
Had no real impact on the game but made some fine passes.
