Manchester City will lock horns with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening looking to build on their recent good form in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s men have won back to back league matches against Southampton and Newcastle United respectively, so they will be quietly confident about collecting another three points from West London this weekend.
The Mancunian giants will set themselves up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Ferran Torres expected to lead the line for them once again as a makeshift centre-forward. The Spanish attacker managed to find the back of the net in his last league outing, which will give him a confidence boost ahead of this league contest at the English capital.
4-2-3-1 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Ederson will feature in between the sticks for Man City after he earned a clean sheet in his last league start. John Stones will operate alongside Ruben Dias at the heart of Guardiola’s defence as they try to keep Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham in check throughout the 90 minutes.
Joao Cancelo will be a guaranteed starter at right-back in the absence of Kyle Walker, who has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus and will not participate in this upcoming match on Sunday. Nathan Ake could fill in on the other side as a makeshift left-back.
Aymeric Laporte and Benjamin Mendy will be named on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan is a major doubt for this game and will be in a race against time to be fit to start alongside Rodri in midfield. Otherwise, Fernandinho will replace the German talent at the centre of the park.
Raheem Sterling will hope to put on a productive showing down the left-wing while Bernardo Silva looks to work his socks off on the right flank. Kevin De Bruyne will play on the shoulders of Ferran Torres in the attacking third. The Belgian international will once again carry most of Man City’s creative burden this weekend.
Phil Foden will have to be content with a spot on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.
Attack
As mentioned earlier, Torres will spearhead Guardiola’s attack up top. The Spaniard has been amongst the goals of late, so a lot will be expected of him when he laces up face the Chelsea backline on Sunday.
Sergio Aguero will be a part of the Man City bench and could feature in the latter stages if his team are in need of a goal.
