Liverpool will host Sunderland on Saturday in the Premier League at Anfield and will look to continue their excellent recent record against the Black Cats. Jürgen Klopp’s side had a frustrating 0-0 draw against Southampton last week that cost them the top spot as Chelsea leapfrogged ahead of the Reds. They will be eager to get back to winning ways and keep the pressure on Chelsea. In fact, they could overtake Chelsea temporarily who have a tough game against Spurs that will take place after the Liverpool game.
Sunderland have only beaten Liverpool twice in the last ten years and the Reds will want to keep it that way. Here are three key battles those could potentially decide the outcome of the game.
Roberto Firmino Vs Lamine Kone
The Liverpool frontman drew a blank at Southampton and will be eager to get back amongst the goals. He missed a clear cut chance from very close range which should have put the Reds in front. Apart from that one poor game, Liverpool’s very own Bobby has been in a sensational form this season, banging in 5 goals and 3 assists.
The Brazilian international will be keen to get on the scoresheet against Sunderland but will have to go past Lamine Kone for that. Sunderland have been shipping away sloppy goals this season but he was excellent against Hull City last week.
