The miserable run of form continues for Arsenal as they were handed their eighth defeat of the season at Goodison Park earlier tonight. Rob Holding opened the scoring with an own goal in the 22nd minute. Arsenal made it 1-1 thirteen minutes later as Nicolas Pepe converted from his spot-kick. Yerri Mina made it 2-1 from Gylfi Sigurdsson’s’ cross right before the half time whistle.
Let’s take a look at how each Arsenal player fared during the match against Everton.
Bernd Leno – 5/10
The German goalkeeper didn’t have a lot to do throughout the game but could have done better to stop Yerri Mina’s header from finding the back of the net.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 6/10
Looked very careless at the back on a number of occasions but did well to earn his side a penalty.
Rob Holding – 5/10
The English defender didn’t do much wrong defensively but ended up directing Calvert Lewin’s header towards his own net for Everton’s first goal of the game.
David Luiz – 6/10
The Brazilian international was desperately unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet as his shot came off the post following a set piece situation. Made some attacking runs to help his team and did decently at the back.
Kieran Tierney – 6.5/10
Created menace down Everton’s right-hand side as he made threatening runs time and again. However, his crosses lacked quality.
Dani Ceballos – 6/10
His ball distribution was decent but the Spaniard lacked the much needed creative spark at the centre of the pitch.
Mohamed Elneny – 5/10
Lacked creativity in the opposition half as most of his passes were either backwards or sideways.
Willian – 6/10
Remained extremely quiet for the majority of first-half but sprayed some really good forward passes in the second forty-five minutes. However, he gave the ball away several times as he struggled to make things happen.
Nicolas Pepe – 7/10
Kept his composure to convert the penalty and make it 1-1. The Frenchman was constantly trying to break the opposition defence down the right-hand side but failed to do so.
Bukayo Saka – 6/10
Looked promising at times as he combined well with Tierney on the left flank.
Eddie Nketiah – 5.5/10
Had a good chance in the first-half which he failed to convert. Dropped deep on a couple of occasions to link-up the play.
SUBSTITUTES
Alexandre Lacazette – 5.5/10
Didn’t get much of the ball but offered more energy going forward.
Gabriel Martinelli – 6/10
Arteta took a punt on the youngster and it would have paid off if he got himself on the end of Joe Willock’s cross late into the second half.
Joe Willock – 6.5/10
Had a positive impact on his side’s attacking gameplay as he created a few chances.
