Tottenham Hotspur will clash heads with Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night hoping to pick up a result on the road. Spurs could only manage to secure a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace last weekend but will go into this game as the Premier League table-toppers in midweek.
Jose Mourinho will probably opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and will be inclined to name Giovani Lo Celso in his starting XI for this upcoming clash away at Merseyside. However, Dele Alli will once again have to settle for a spot on the bench but could feature in the second half if needed.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool
Defence
Hugo Lloris will operate in between the sticks for Spurs after failing to keep a clean sheet versus the Eagles last weekend. Eric Dier will partner Toby Alderweireld at the centre of the Tottenham defence as they look to keep Liverpool’s front three quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
Serge Aurier will continue to feature at right-back while Sergio Reguilón hopes to impress on the other side as the left-back. Mourinho will ask both of them to keep a solid shape at the back so that they can limit the Reds from creating too many chances out on the wide areas.
Midfield
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Moussa Sissoko will assume the duties of the holding midfielders as they focus on providing adequate protection for their teammates at the back. The technically-gifted trio of Heung-min Son, Giovani Lo Celso and Steven Bergwijn will play just ahead of them as part of Mourinho’s attack.
Lucas Moura will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the second half if required.
Attack
Harry Kane will once again lead the line for Spurs up top. The English marksman has developed a telepathic understanding with Son and will once again carry most of the creative and goal-scoring burden in the final third. He will fancy his chances of getting his name on the scoresheet when he laces up to face off against a Liverpool defence that has failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last two outings across all competitions.
