Manchester United will play hosts to Sheffield United on Thursday night looking to pick a positive result and continue their excellent run of away form in the Premier League. On the other hand, the Blades are yet to register a win this season, so Chris Wilder’s men will be eager to produce a more fitting performance in the midweek clash.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will probably opt for a 4-4-2 formation and could make a couple of changes to the starting XI for the game at Bramall Lane. Alex Telles might get the nod over Luke Shaw whereas Martial could return to feature as Mason Greenwood has already started three games over the last seven days.
4-4-2 Manchester United Predicted Line-up to Face Sheffield United
Defence
David De Gea will start in between the sticks for the Red Devils after he secured a clean sheet vs Pep Guardiola’s side last Saturday. Maguire will feature at the heart of United’s backline, looking to continue his centre-half partnership with Lindelof.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be looking forward to picking up from where he left off last week at the right-back spot whereas Alex Telles will be expected to put up an all-around performance on the other flank as the left-back.
Midfield
Pogba could retain his spot in the starting line-up after putting up back to back positive performances at the centre of the park.
Fred will continue to operate alongside McTominay filling in the holding midfield positions. The duo combined magnificently to neutralise City’s attacking threats last weekend.
Bruno Fernandes, guaranteed to start in the attacking midfield position, couldn’t quite deliver in his last game and will be determined to set up some decent goal-scoring chances for his teammates to make up for it.
Van De Beek will have to settle for a place on the bench but might come on in the second half if called upon.
Attack
Martial seems to have recovered from his muscle injury and looks likely to head the attack with Rashford alongside him. The Frenchman, who hasn’t yet registered a goal to his name this season, will be hoping to end his miserable run of form this week.
Edinson Cavani should be fit just in time to make the match-day squad and could make a cameo appearance if needed.
