Pep Guardiola has said he is delighted that Manchester City won’t have to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16.
City got through to the Champions League 2nd round after a very sloppy 1-1 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach. City will finish in second place as they have eight points compared to Barcelona who have 12 points, although both of them have a game left.
Bayern also will finish in the second place as Atletico Madrid are not catchable any more and it means Guardiola won’t have a chance to take on against his former employer.
“I think all the teams will be really tough. Bayern Munich are like us, in second position, and the team that face them are going to suffer.
“I’m lucky in that sense because we are not going to face Bayern Munich!
“Four years ago the first (knockout) round of the Champions League was a little bit easier and it started getting a bit serious in the quarter-finals.
“Today all the teams are so strong and anything can happen. We are going to wait for the draw and we are going to see.”
