Manchester City locked horns with Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this evening hoping to grab all three points in the Manchester derby. Pep Guardiola’s men struggled to create too many clear-cut chances in the first half and went into the half-time break all level on the scoreline.
Both teams fought tooth and nail in the second 45 minutes but struggled to make the decisive breakthrough. The contest ended with Man City coming away with a hard-fought point from the Theatre of Dreams.
Let’s take a look at how each Man City player performed during the match against Man United.
GK: Ederson – 6.5/10
The Brazilian keeper was mostly comfortable in goal for Man City as he was hardly tested during the 90 minutes. He ended up keeping an easy clean sheet at the back.
RB: Kyle Walker – 6/10
The English full-back didn’t give away too much defensively and had a quiet game in the opposition half.
CB: John Stones – 6/10
Besides one nervy moment in the first half, he bossed the game and secured a comfortable shutout at Old Trafford.
CB: Ruben Dias – 6.5/10
Dias did what was asked of him inside his half and cruised to another clean sheet in the Premier League.
LB: Joao Cancelo – 7/10
Cancelo had a good game offensively as he made some promising dashes from the left flank. He hardly had to do any defensive work with Man United failing to cause too many problems today.
CM: Fernandinho – 6.5/10
The Brazilian midfield ace made a couple of crucial interceptions and offered adequate protection for his teammates at the back.
CM: Rodri Hernandez – 6/10
Rodri kept the ball moving in midfield but lacked the creativity to cut open the Man United defence.
LW: Raheem Sterling – 6/10
The English speedster went close to scoring in the first half after some excellent wing-play. However, his goal-bound shot was blocked by Harry Maguire. Otherwise, he hardly got a sniff at goal.
CAM: Kevin De Bruyne – 6/10
The Belgian international showed some moments of promise but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
RW: Riyad Mahrez – 5.5/10
The Algerian winger got a glorious chance to give his team the lead in the first half but was denied by David De Gea’s excellent save. He got replaced after the hour mark.
ST: Gabriel Jesus – 6.5/10
The Brazilian striker had one bright moment in the first half. Otherwise, he was mostly marked out of the game by the Man United centre-backs.
Substitutes:
RW: Ferran Torres – 6/10
The Spaniard retained possession well without creating anything of note in the decisive end of the field.
