Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Manchester United will extend Zlatan Ibrahimović’s contract for another year. The Swede was signed by United on a one-year contract and the club have the option to extend it for a further year.
The 35-year-old has scored eight goals in 17 games in all competition for the Red Devils. The striker had played under Jose Mourinho when the Portuguese was in the charge of Inter Milan. The Swede recently retired after the Euro 2016 where his country failed to clear the first round hurdle. He is the highest scorer for his country with 62 goals in 116 games.
Jose Mourinho said, “Zlatan’s situation is simple, He has one plus one. We are happy with him. We are going to execute the option of a second season. After that he can do what he wants.”
When Zlatan was asked about the development, he answered in his usual way, “For the moment, we haven’t had any discussions. I have a contract that says one [year] plus one.
“I feel good, I feel fresh, I feel in shape, so it will probably be a second year.
“I want to perform like I can do and not waste time. The second year goes automatic after one so, if it continues like this, yes.”
