Brendan Rodgers could be just a few days away from his first piece of silverware in Scottish football. The Northern Irishman deserves every bit of the glory for the amazing work he has done at Celtic Park since taking over the club in the summer. Yet to be beaten in any domestic game this season, the former Liverpool boss has become a fan favourite already despite the Hoops struggling in the Champions League.
Celtic were beaten 0-2 by Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek which is not the worst result to be fair considering the monumental difference in quality between the two sides.
Rodgers’ Celtic will be up against rivals Aberdeen in the League Cup final on Sunday and will head into the game as major favourites. Celtic have met Aberdeen twice this season already and both times they came out winners. The first time, the game ended 4-1 in favour of the Bhoys while the second time, it ended 0-1 at Pittodrie. Aberdeen have made their way into the final beating the likes of Ayr United, St. Johnstone and Greenock Morton while Rodgers’ side have seen off Motherwell, Alloa and arch rivals Rangers.
Here is the predicted Celtic lineup against Aberdeen.
Defence
Scottish custodian Craig Gordon will keep his place under the bar ahead of Dorus de Vries. Erik Sviatchenko will keep his place at the heart of the defence. Jozo Simunovic should start alongside the Dane at the heart of the defence. Swedish international Mikael Lustig is likely to start at right-back. Emilio Izaguirre is likely to start at left-back with Kieran Tierney out injured.
