Jose Mourinho has expressed his desire to stay beyond three years at Manchester United. The club appointed Mourinho on a three-year contract this season. The Portuguese had a brilliant start to his United career as he won the Community Shield by defeating Leicester City.
However, consecutive defeats at the hands of Manchester City, Feyenoord and Watford put him under pressure. He also registered his worst record in the Premier League as Chelsea pumped in four goals past the Red Devils.
Mourinho knows that he desperately needs silverware to bring United back on track. The 53 year old said, “Let’s go step by step. I am in the beginning of my contract, in the beginning of the process.
“If you ask me if I want to stay longer than three years then I say yes, I would love it, but also I have to earn and deserve that.
“If the club feels I deserve to stay then I will be very, very proud.”
