Everton will entertain Leeds United at Goodison Park on Saturday evening hoping to build on their good start to this Premier League campaign. The Toffees managed to claim all three points versus Fulham after emerging victorious by a narrow 3-2 scoreline at Craven Cottage last weekend. That win will give them a lot of momentum heading into this weekend’s league encounter versus the Whites.
Carlo Ancelotti will opt for a 3-4-3 formation and might be inclined to name an unchanged team for this clash at home. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is currently leading the Premier League goal-scoring charts, so he will once again be the Merseyside club’s best hope for a goal.
3-4-3 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Leeds United
Defence
Jordan Pickford will once again feature as Everton’s first-choice keeper after he shipped in two goals versus the Cottagers in his last league outing. Ancelotti could choose to go for a back three of Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina and Michael Keane. All three centre-backs will have to keep a good defensive shape if they are to stop Leeds’ Patrick Bamford from finding the back of the net during the game.
The Toffees have already conceded 16 goals in nine league matches so far. Hence, Ancelotti will be desperate to see his players secure a clean sheet against the Whites this weekend. Seamus Coleman remains sidelined due to injury, but Mason Holgate will be ready to make up the numbers on the bench.
Midfield
Allan will get the nod to anchor the midfield alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure as they look to offer adequate defensive protection for their teammates at the back. Niels Nkounkou will focus on producing a fruitful performance on the left flank in the injury absence of Lucas Digne while Alex Iwobi fills in on the other flank as the left wing-back.
Iwobi caught the eye by putting in a brilliant display versus Fulham, so Ancelotti would hope that he can maintain his good form this weekend. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes will have to settle for a spot on the bench but might come on to feature as the second-half substitutes if needed.
Attack
Everton’s frontline will be comprised of Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and James Rodriguez up top. Calvert-Lewin has already banged in ten goals in the Premier League, so we can expect him to be a potent goal-threat inside the Leeds penalty box.
Cenk Tosun will make up the numbers on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine in the latter stages of the contest if Ancelotti calls upon his services.
