Liverpool entertained Leicester City at Anfield earlier tonight hoping to pick up another Premier League victory at home. The Reds made a dominant start to the game and took the lead in the 21st minute courtesy of Jonny Evans’ nightmare own goal. Diogo Jota doubled the home side’s lead just 20 minutes later when he scored with an excellent header. Jurgen Klopp’s men went into the half-time break two goals to the good.
The Merseyside club were the more dominant team in the second half but struggled to find the finishing touch in the final third. However, Roberto Firmino kept knocking on the door and finally got his name on the scoresheet in the 86th minute with a lethal header from close range. The contest ended with the reigning Premier League champions securing a comfortable 3-0 win at Anfield.
Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player fared during the match against the Foxes.
GK: Alisson Becker – 7/10
The Brazilian keeper did his job when called into action and made some solid stops on his way to earning a well-deserved clean sheet at the back.
RB: James Milner – 8.5/10
The English veteran was flawless at right-back. He did well to adjust himself and play most of the second half as a midfielder. He also picked up a late assist for setting up Firmino’s header.
CB: Joel Matip – 8/10
The Cameroonian centre-back was dominant in the air and didn’t let the Leicester attackers get too many openings around his penalty area.
CB: Fabinho – 8/10
It was a welcome return to first-team action for Fabinho. He was outstanding in defence and kept Jamie Vardy quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
LB: Andrew Robertson – 9/10
The Scottish full-back secured a great assist for his majestic work down the left flank as he set-up Jota’s first-half goal with a sublime cross. He pressed the opposition well and was a real bundle of energy in the second half.
CM: Naby Keita – 7/10
Keita was bright and energetic on the ball and made a couple of driving runs towards the opponent’s penalty area. However, he suffered an injury early in the second half and had to go off because of it.
CM: Georginio Wijnaldum – 7/10
The Dutch midfielder kept things ticking at the centre of the park and played the holding midfield role quite well.
CM: Curtis Jones – 7.5/10
The Liverpool youngster interchanged possession quite well with his teammates and gave a good account of himself at the heart of Klopp’s midfield.
RW: Diogo Jota – 8.5/10
The Portuguese speedster was a constant nuisance for the Leicester defenders and scored with a well-directed header before the half-time break.
ST: Roberto Firmino – 9/10
The Brazilian striker dropped deep to build up plays for others around him and could have scored a hattrick in the second half if lady luck was shining on him. However, he ended the game with a goal to his name, which will do his confidence a world of good.
LW: Sadio Mane – 7/10
The Senegalese winger caused all sorts of problems for the Foxes defenders but was not clinical enough to get himself a goal tonight.

The youngster came on early in the second half and produced an impressive performance at right-back.
LW: Divock Origi – N/A
Not enough time to make an impact.
