Tottenham Hotspur continued their excellent start to the campaign with a fantastic 2-0 win over Manchester City. The Lilywhites were formidable at the back after initially going 1-0 up in the first-half through Son Heung-Min while a second-half goal from Giovani Lo Celso secured all three points, in what was truly a Jose Mourinho masterclass.

Hugo Lloris 8/10
Hugo Lloris was solid and reliable in between the sticks, barely showing any signs of weaknesses. It helped in motivating the Spurs backline, who proceeded with a marvellous defensive display. Also made a stunning save late in the game to secure his clean sheet.
Serge Aurier 8/10
Starting ahead of the unavailable Matt Doherty, Serge Aurier put in a fantastic display at right-back. He often operated as an auxiliary centre-back during the defensive phases, aiding the two central defenders and helping Tottenham keep out Man City.
Toby Alderweireld 10/10
Toby Alderweireld was a rock at the back for Tottenham, marshalling the backline with some crispy challenges. He also initiated the counter-attack that led to the second line with an excellent pass to Harry Kane but was unlucky to pick up a late muscular injury.
Eric Dier 10/10
Eric Dier was another top performer in this fixture. He offered massive support for Alderweireld throughout the game and led the team well when the Belgian got off injured.
Sergio Reguilon 9/10
Sergio Reguilon had to operate in midfield at times in order to aid Spurs’ second line of press. Played in a more traditional left-back role in the second half, and was always an outlet on the counter. A great all-round performance from the in-form Spaniard.
Moussa Sissoko 8.5/10
Moussa Sissoko was hugely impressive in the middle of the park. His abilities to read the game and drop deep were critical in helping Spurs neutralise Manchester City’s creative unit.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 9.5/10
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg impressed once again in Tottenham’s second line of press. The Dane recovered a lot of balls in midfield, emerging as a leader at the base of the Spurs setup. It might even be his best performance to date since joining the Lilywhites.
Tanguy Ndombele 8/10
A majestic first-half performance from Tanguy Ndombele, whose creativity and expertise on the ball helped Spurs create many opportunities. In fact, it was his lofted through ball that led to Son Heung-Min’s all-important opener. Taken off after the hour-mark.
Son Heung-Min 8/10
Aside from a brilliant finish that led to the opener, Son Heung-Min was once again influential going forward. But, it was his work-rate and defensive commitment that impressed the onlookers while his combination play with Kane was also mesmerising once again.
Harry Kane 9/10
Harry Kane played a key role in attracting the defenders and opening up space for Son for the first goal. The Englishman emerged as a creator-in-chief for Spurs, often dropping deep and collecting balls from midfield before producing a sensational forward ball. Certainly one of the best performers on the night.
Steven Bergwijn 7/10
Did a good job in providing the flair and the speed during the first half. Was a mere spectator after the restart and eventually made way for Lucas Moura during the final phase of the game.

Giovani Lo Celso 7.5/10
Made an immediate impact after coming on for Ndombele around the hour-mark as he scored the second goal for Spurs. Offered more energy and spark during the final phase of the game.
Lucas Moura 7/10
Much like Lo Celso, Lucas Moura revitalised Tottenham’s first line of press with his work ethic and tenacity.
Joe Rodon 6.5/10
A late replacement for Alderweireld. Managed to keep things neat and tidy, helping Spurs see out their two goal advantage.
