Manchester City will face off against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening hoping to grind out a victory on their travels. Pep Guardiola’s men were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool before the international break which has increased their need to pick up maximum points from this contest at North London.
The Mancunian giants will set themselves up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Guardiola expected to name a strong team for this upcoming clash versus Spurs on the road.
4-2-3-1 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Ederson will keep his spot in between the sticks for Man City but could be in for a tough evening as he can expect to be tested multiple times by the home team. Ruben Dias will continue to feature along with Aymeric Laporte at the heart of Guardiola’s defence as they try their best to keep Spurs’ Harry Kane quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
Kyle Walker will be a nailed-on starter at right-back while Joao Cancelo looks to impress on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them would have to maintain a solid shape in defence and also create some inviting chances going forward.
Midfield
Ilkay Gundogan will lineup alongside Rodri in the holding midfield positions as they try to provide adequate protection for their teammates at the back. Raheem Sterling will be in a race against time to be fit to start on the left flank. Ferran Torres has enjoyed an excellent run of form for both his club and country of late, so he will be a threat from the right-wing.
Kevin De Bruyne will get the freedom to operate as a free-flowing attacking midfielder in the opposition half. He will be responsible for engineering the major bulk of the chances that Man City create in the final third.
Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden will have to be content with a spot on the bench, but they might come on as the second-half substitutes if required.
Attack
Gabriel Jesus will once again lead the charge for the reigning EFL Cup champions up top. The Brazilian striker scored a brilliant individual goal versus Liverpool before the international break which will give him a confidence boost going into this weekend’s showdown at the English capital.
