In a recent interview with Football Insider, ex-Premier League forward Kevin Campbell has tipped Real Madrid to look at Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish after his brilliant performance versus Arsenal last weekend. Campbell said, “On that performance the other night I think Real Madrid and Barcelona will be looking at him.
“Arsenal made him look fantastic but I am not taking anything away from Jack Grealish because he is a superb player.
“He has been the form guy for Aston Villa and it was virtually a one-man show last season.
“He kept them in the Premier League but Arsenal offered no real resistance the other night. They allowed him to do what he wanted. He bullied Bellerin.
“He did not do himself a bad turn. If Arsenal are looking to sign a player of Jack Grealish’s ilk, he did not do himself any harm.
“There was speculation about Manchester United last summer and I am sure he could play for any of the top six.”
Grealish’s Growing Influence At Villa Park This Season
The Villans skipper has made a dream start to this campaign as he has put in a series of match-winning performances on the left flank of Dean Smith’s frontline. Grealish has participated in eight matches for the West Midlands outfit this term, netting five goals and securing five assists in multiple competitions.
The 25-year-old has done well to average 1.4 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 3.1 shots, 2.7 key passes and 2.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season. He has also distributed possession relatively well after making 79.8% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).
The Birmingham-born talent has been a joy to watch whenever he has stepped onto the field over the past couple of seasons. However, Grealish needs to switch clubs if he wants to compete for some major trophies in the coming seasons. He might flourish at a top club like Real Madrid if Zidane Zidane decides to bring him to the Spanish capital in the future.
What Will The English Playmaker Bring To The Table?
Grealish is a deceptively quick playmaker who has made a habit of making some lung-bursting runs towards the opponent’s penalty box. He is capable of creating space for himself to either pick out a killer pass in the final third or have a strike on-target on his own, which makes him a potent threat from the left-wing.
The two-time England international deserves a pat on the back for scoring and creating goals regularly in Premier League football. At 25, he is only going to get better with each season. Hence, it makes sense for Zinedine Zidane to listen to Kevin Campbell’s advice by considering a move for the Villans star in the future.
Should Los Blancos Launch A Move For Grealish?
Based on Grealish’s recent form, Los Blancos would do well to recruit a player of his skillset either in January or next summer. With Eden Hazard struggling to give a good account of himself at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, maybe signing a productive playmaker like Grealish could be the way to go as Zidane looks to establish a period of sustained success at the Spanish capital.
At the same time, the Madrid giants have got both Vinicius Junior, Marco Asensio and Rodrygo vying for a place on the flanks, so they have no immediate need to bring in any attacking reinforcements. However, their priorities could change next summer based on how they perform during the course of this campaign. All in all, Zidane should contemplate whether to engineer a move to sign Grealish at the end of the season when the player will be far more matured and hence capable to prove his worth at the highest level.
