Real Madrid suffered a huge setback before the El Clasico as Welsh winger Gareth Bale sustained an ankle injury during their Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon in Portugal. He is now facing uncertainty over his availability against Barcelona on 3rd December.
Bale suffered the injury after a clash with Sporting defender Sebastian Coates. He was seen limping off from the field at the stroke of the hour mark. Bale tried to continue after that but couldn’t keep up and was subbed off by Marco Asensio. Bale’s injury will be a huge concern for Coach Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane later said in the post-match press conference, “Gareth Bale suffered more of an ankle twist than a knock, but we will have to wait and see what the problem is,” Tomorrow [Wednesday], he will be examined by our medical staff and after that we will find out more.”
Real have some tough fixtures ahead as they will face Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League group game as well.
