Manchester City will face off against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s men bounced back from their disappointing 1-1 draw versus West Ham United by securing a dominant 3-0 win over Marseille in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
The Mancunian giants will opt for a 4-3-3 formation with Joao Cancelo expected to be named as the left-back while Oleksandr Zinchenko serves as his back-up on the bench. However, Nathan Ake is a slight concern, so he might not be risked in this weekend’s game versus the Blades.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Sheffield United
Defence
Ederson will feature in goal for the Mancunian club after he kept a comfortable clean sheet versus Marseille on Tuesday night. Aymeric Laporte will resume his defensive partnership with Ruben Dias at the heart of the Man City backline as they look to keep things stable at the back throughout the 90 minutes.
Kyle Walker will operate as the right-back while Joao Cancelo returns to take his spot on the other side at left-back. Guardiola will ask both of them to push high up the field so that they have the opportunity to make a few well-timed overlapping runs out on the wide areas.
Eric Garcia will be named on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri and Bernardo Silva will make up the Man City midfield. Their primary focus should be to dominate the battle at the centre of the park and engineer some clear-cut opportunities for their teammates in the attacking third.
Ilkay Gundogan will have to be content with a spot on the bench despite his goal-scoring heroics in midweek.
Attack
Phil Foden will keep his place down the left flank while Riyad Mahrez looks to put in a productive display from the right. Raheem Sterling will once again operate as a makeshift centre-forward in the injury absence of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.
Sterling produced a lacklustre performance versus West Ham, but this game against Chris Wilder’s men could serve as an ideal opportunity for him to return to form in the English top-flight. Ferran Torres will be available for selection on the bench but could come on as an impact substitute if required.
