Premier League giants Chelsea played out a frustrating 0-0 draw against Manchester United tonight, in a game where neither team were presented with any clear cut chances. Although both teams dominated proceedings over periods, neither was able to take a grip over the midfield battle. Manchester United forced a number of excellent stops out of Chelsea’s Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, while the Blues’ talking point will have to be the penalty shout in the first-half, where Harry Maguire seemed to pull Cesar Azpilicueta down by grabbing onto his neck. At the end of the ninety, the goalless draw could be considered a fair result, although both teams will likely feel like they were robbed.
Here Are The Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Manchester United:
Chelsea Player Ratings Vs Manchester United
Edouard Mendy – 8
The keeper put in an excellent shift in between the sticks tonight, as he made a number of key saves to keep United at bay. Had a scary moment in the first-half but made up for it with his shot-stopping.
Reece James – 7
The speedster worked extremely hard against the obvious threat of Marcus Rashford in the second half. Tried to foray forward whenever possible and he played in some delectable crosses as well.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
The Spaniard was solid in the heart of defence as he made numerous vital blocks in the wide areas. Tried to get forward in the late stages but wasn’t able to find a quality ball into the area.
Thiago Silva – 8
Had it not been for the Brazilian’s presence, there’s every chance that Chelsea could’ve conceded multiple goals in that tie. Commanded the box and the back-line in an efficient manner.
Kurt Zouma – 7
The Frenchman was solid in the heart of defence for the Blues as he wasn’t required to do too much tracking back. Won some important headers in the box and passed it around well too.
Ben Chilwell – 7
The Englishman stepped up to the threat of Aaron Wan-Bissaka all throughout the game, and put in an excellent defensive shift. Despite trying to get forward whenever possible, he couldn’t create anything meaningful.
Jorginho – 7
The Italian was composed in the middle of the park as he ensured to keep the ball moving from side to side. Needs to offer more attacking penetration by using the pace of Werner and Pulisic though.
N’Golo Kante – 6
The Frenchman was found lacking when going forward once again, as his decision making in the final third is undoubtedly flawed. Did make some important defensive contributions though.
Kai Havertz – 5
The German was poor in possession as he struggled to even make the ball stick. His control and touch let him down on numerous occasions, while his passing wasn’t great tonight either.
Timo Werner – 5
The speedster had a couple of good opportunities to take on the United back-line, but instead chose the easy way out by going wide. Needs to involve himself in the attacking build-up a lot more.
Christian Pulisic – 5
The American, like the other Chelsea attackers, had an extremely frustrating evening on the left flank. Had a shot on target in the first half but needs to offer more creativity in the final third.
