Manchester United played hosts to Chelsea at Old Trafford earlier this evening hoping to secure a victory at home. Both sides fought hard but couldn’t make the breakthrough in the first half as they went into the half-time break with nothing to split them.
The second 45 minutes was more of the same but with Man United having more shots without creating too much in the game. The contest ended with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men battling out a 0-0 draw at the Theatre of Dreams.
Let’s take a look at how each Man United player fared during the clash against Chelsea.
GK: David De Gea – 6.5/10
The Spanish goalie was hardly tested during the game and kept a comfortable clean sheet at the back.
RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10
The ex-Crystal Palace man didn’t give the opposition an inch when defending inside his half and produced another solid performance at right-back today.
CB: Victor Lindelof – 7.5/10
Lindelof commanded his penalty area with conviction and didn’t find a foot wrong in the game. He was also tidy with his ball-distribution.
CB: Harry Maguire – 6.5/10
The English centre-back won some important aerial duels during the game but was fortunate not to give away a penalty for putting Cesar Azpilicueta in a headlock.
LB: Luke Shaw – 5.5/10
He struggled to make an impact going forward but did enough work defensively to restrict the Blues from scoring.
CM: Scott McTominay – 6/10
McTominay worked hard but struggled to retain possession well for his side in midfield. He needs to up his game big time if he wants to keep his place in Solskjaer’s first XI.
CM: Fred – 7/10
The Brazilian midfield ace pulled off a few crucial interceptions for his team but lacked the cutting edge with his passes in the opposition half.
RW: Juan Mata – 7/10
The Spanish playmaker created a good chance for Rashford and even managed to test Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy with an attempt. However, it was not enough for his team to secure all three points today.
CAM: Bruno Fernandes – 4.5/10
The Portuguese international struggled to get himself involved in the game in what was a poor performance from him during the 90 minutes.
LW: Daniel James – 4/10
The Welsh wide player failed to create any meaningful chances down the left flank and deserved to get subbed in the second half.
ST: Marcus Rashford – 5/10
The English speedster wasted a glorious chance to find the back of the net which was quite disappointing after his midweek heroics in the 2-1 win away at Paris Saint-Germain.
Substitutes:
CM: Paul Pogba – 6/10
The Frenchman came off the bench but couldn’t come up with anything of note in the attacking third.
ST: Edinson Cavani – 6/10
The Uruguayan international almost scored with his first touch but was largely ineffective in the dying stages of the game.
LW: Mason Greenwood – 5/10
He came on too late to make an impact.
