Barcelona will clash heads with Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Saturday night looking to return to winning ways in La Liga. The Catalan giants were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Sevilla before the international break. Thus, Ronald Koeman will demand a positive response from his players when they lock horns with the Madrid outfit this weekend.
Barca will lineup in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Clement Lenglet expected to return to Koeman’s first XI after serving out a one-game suspension versus Sevilla earlier this month.
4-2-3-1 Barcelona Predicted Lineup To Face Getafe
Defence
Neto will once again get the nod to start in goal for the Catalans in the injury absence of Marc-André ter Stegen who is still sidelined with a knee problem. Lenglet will return to play along with Gerard Pique at the centre of the Barca backline. The defensive duo will have to find a way to restrict the opposition from finding the back of the net this weekend.
Sergi Roberto will fill in at right-back while Sergiño Dest will operate on the other side as the left-back. Koeman will ask both his full-backs to be more adventurous than usual so that his players can create enough chances to win this game at Madrid.
Ronald Araújo will have to settle for a place on the bench as he provides cover for the centre-back positions.
Midfield
Frenkie de Jong will resume his midfield partnership with Miralem Pjanić as they try to establish Barca’s dominance at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho and Francisco Trincao will play just ahead of them as part of Koeman’s attack. Coutinho got his name on the scoresheet versus Sevilla in his last outing which could keep him in high spirits going into this game away at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez this weekend.
Riqui Puig will be a part of Barca’s bench as he waits for his chance to shine as a second-half substitute if Koeman calls upon his services.
Attack
Lionel Messi will spearhead the Catalan club’s attack up top. He will once again be deployed as a centre-forward despite his unusually quiet start to this campaign while playing in that position. The Argentine maestro desperately needs to score this weekend so that he can build his confidence up ahead of a busy few months in Spanish football.
