The Chronicle has recently reported that Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons has been told to seek a new club before the domestic transfer deadline later this week. It is understood that the English wide player will be available for a transfer as the Magpies look to free up some of their salary space this month (via The Chronicle).
Aarons’ Mounting Frustrations In English Football
The 24-year-old’s current contract at St. James’ Park is set to expire at the end of this campaign, so it is no surprise that the Tyneside giants are looking to move him on during this domestic transfer period. So far, Aarons has struggled to earn regular first-team opportunities in the Premier League.
Back in January, the Kingston-born winger was sent out on a six-month loan deal to Motherwell where he made a total of eight appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists across all competitions. However, he has failed to break into the Newcastle first-team upon his return earlier this summer and is now deemed surplus to requirements at Tyneside.
Aarons should be desperate to seal a permanent move in search of greener pastures as his career with the Magpies is going nowhere at the moment. At 24, the English speedster still has plenty of time left in him to get his career back on track, so he must end his Newcastle misery as soon as possible.
What Does The English Winger Offer On The Field?
Aarons has decent pace in his locker and can make a few penetrative runs with the ball out on the flanks. However, he has failed to be productive with his performances which explains why he is not a part of Steve Bruce’s first-team plans for this campaign.
The English playmaker is highly versatile as he can play on either wing which could make him a valuable squad player for any lower-tier club in England. He can also supply some decent crosses into the opposition penalty box. The best that Aarons can hope for this month is a move to an EFL Championship club but whether any team takes an interest in him, remains to be seen.
Is Steve Bruce Making The Right Call By Listing Aarons For A Transfer This Month?
At the moment, the Magpies have no choice but to trim their squad so that they can lower their wage bill considerably ahead of the domestic transfer deadline on Friday. Aarons seems to be living on borrowed time at St. James’ Park, so it is only logical for both the club and the player to part ways with each other right now.
