AC Milan are reportedly set to revive their interest in Jack Wilshere at the end of the 2016/17 season. The Arsenal midfielder is currently on loan to Bournemouth and before his deadline day moves to Dean Court during the summer, the player had been linked with a surprise move to the Italian giants after announcing he would be leaving Arsenal on loan. The 24-year-old eventually opted to sign for Eddie Howe’s Cherries, snubbing offers from Milan, West Ham and Roma with his best mate Benik Afobe playing a vital part in the move.
According to the Daily Star, AC Milan are still interested in signing the England international and are ready to make a move in the summer, by which point the player will have just one year left on his Gunners contract. Since moving to the South Coast, Wilshere has moved from strength to strength putting his injury woes behind him and has recently completed his third match for his new club playing the full 90 minutes which used to seem to be almost an absurdity during his time at the Emirates, with his frustrating injuries.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has done a very good job so far, carefully managing his fitness as he sought to put his awful injury record behind him. Under the coach’s watch, Wilshere has now established himself as a key player at the club. The 24-year old’s influence was very clear in the last game against Stoke City where he gave helped his team secure their first away victory in seven months.
When quizzed about Wilshere and how the manager succeeded to get the best out of him so far, Howe remarked, “We worked very hard with him when he first came, in training not to overload him with work and on game-time to ease him into 90 minutes. We didn’t want to demand too much of him too early. Hopefully, we’ve got that balance right and we’re at a stage now where he can tolerate that load. I think the proof is in the pudding in terms of what you see out there. With or without the ball his work ethic is great. He was running for 90 or 95 minutes today [in Bournemouth’s victory against Stoke]. He was running and pressing and trying to stop balls coming into our box.”
The good form for the Cherries helped Wilshere to a recall to the England squad for the national side’s fixtures against Scotland and Spain after he was left out by previous manager Sam Allardyce, and even though he did not make it onto the pitch for either game it was a big indication that the move has worked perfectly for him so far.
With Bournemouth impressing under the brilliant management of the 38-year-old Eddie Howe, Jack Wilshere is finding to find his touch after a long time playing continuous games for the club each week after a long long time. While a move to San Siro will no doubt suit him very well at this moment it seems like it would take some convincing for the player to move away from Dean Court. With a move back to Arsenal seemingly in some doubt, it would be unlikely for the midfielder to move away from his current destination immediately.
