Newcastle United will clash heads with Burnley at St. James’ Park on Saturday night looking to earn their first home win of this new Premier League campaign. The Magpies will come into this game after beating Newport County via the penalty shootouts in the EFL last 16 in midweek. The Tyneside outfit were also fortunate to grab a point from their match versus Tottenham Hotspur last weekend when they were gifted a last-minute penalty which Wilson scored to salvage a result.
Steve Bruce will probably set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to bring Callum Wilson back to his starting lineup for this clash versus Sean Dyche’s men.
4-2-3-1 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup Vs Burnley
Defence
Karl Darlow will play in between the sticks for the Magpies after being rested in the midweek win over Newport County. Jamaal Lascelles will once again lineup alongside Federico Fernandez at the centre of the Newcastle backline as they look to keep things tidy at the back versus the Clarets this weekend.
Javier Manquillo will be guaranteed a place at right-back while Jamal Lewis hopes to impress on the other side as the left-back. Both full-backs will try to keep a good defensive shape and also provide support to the front players from the wide areas.
DeAndre Yedlin is a significant doubt for this game, but Fabian Schar and Emil Krafth should be available for a place on the bench.
Midfield
Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey will operate as the holding midfielders as they look to sit deep and feed some promising through balls to their teammates up top. Allan Saint-Maximin will be in a race against time to be fit for this game. If the Frenchman can pass a late fitness test, then he will feature on the left-wing while Jeff Hendrick fills in on the other side as the right-sided wide player. Miguel Almiron will play just on the shoulders of Callum Wilson as he looks to use his pace to cause some problems for the Burnley defenders from the number ten position.
Sean Longstaff and Ryan Fraser will have to be content with a place on the bench but could make an impact in the second 45 minutes if Bruce decides to call upon their services.
Attack
Callum Wilson will lead the charge for the Tyneside giants up top. The English striker has been amongst the goals in recent weeks which will keep him in high spirits going into this contest versus the Lancashire outfit.
Joelinton will assume the duties of the back-up forward on the bench as he awaits his chance to influence the game as an impact substitute if needed.
