Premier League giants Manchester City secured progress into the last eight of the Carabao Cup after a comfortable 3-0 victory against fellow top-flight outfit Burnley. The fixture at Turf Moor started with Manchester City dominating the possession, and that trend continued pretty much until the final knockings of the game. Burnley only registered two shots on target over the ninety, and keeper Zack Steffen had a quiet evening. Raheem Sterling scored two rather simple goals by his huge standards, before setting one up for summer signing Ferran Torres to help see out the win.

Zack Steffen – 7
The 25-year-old was barely called into action over the course of the ninety as the away side dominated with more than 60% of the possession. Did look confident with the ball at his feet as well.
Kyle Walker – 6.5
The Englishman didn’t get forward as much as he usually does tonight but put in a solid defensive shift. The former Spurs man did make a couple of penetrative forward runs though.
Fernandinho – 7
The versatile Brazilian was deployed as one of the centre-halves tonight, and he did a decent enough job. Played some good forward passes and never looked overly troubled by the Burnley attackers.
Aymeric Laporte – 7
The defender put in a solid shift in the heart of the defence for Guardiola’s side. Looked strong with the ball at his feet and played a sensational ball to release Mendy ahead of the opening goal.
Benjamin Mendy – 7.5
The speedster spent a majority of the fixture in the Burnley half, and to good effect. Bombarded forward on every opportunity and played a great ball to Sterling for the Citizens’ opener.
Rodri – 7
The Spanish midfielder held his position well against the tall and physically adept Burnley forwards. Didn’t allow them too much time to work the ball and was a constant passing option as well.
Kevin De Bruyne – 7
The Belgian superstar didn’t get all that involved in the attacking play tonight but had a key part to play in ensuring that City won the midfield battle. Calm and composed in possession too.
Riyad Mahrez – 6.5
The former Leicester City man’s touches seemed to let him down in the final third, but he played a good pass to release Torres for City’s third goal of the night. Worked hard in midfield too.
Ferran Torres – 8
The Spaniard was handed his full debut by Guardiola tonight, and it’s safe to say that he lived up to the billing. Showcased his explosive pace on a few occasions and stroked his goal in with great composure.
Cole Palmer – 7
Although the youngster did make the odd poor decision in the attack, his willingness to find a teammate in a better position needs to be applauded. Showed himself in an excellent light all through the tie.
Raheem Sterling – 8.5
The Englishman wasted a couple of good chances to find the net but stepped up when it mattered and scored two of City’s goals. Handed a flexible role by Guardiola, and he made full use of the freedom.
Substitutes
Bernardo Silva – 6.5
The Portuguese trickster put in a good shift after replacing Kevin De Bruyne around the hour mark. Worked hard in midfield and played some good forward passes as well.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis – 6
Thrown on in the second half by Guardiola after the Citizens took a comfortable 3-0 lead. Wasn’t required to do too much defending and looked comfortable at the back for the most part.
