Manchester City are reportedly planning an outrageous bid to sign Lionel Messi from Barcelona. The English side is planning to offer an astronomical £200m for the services of the Argentine forward.
The 29-year old recently put a hold on a contract extension as he is yet to decide on his Barcelona future. Messi was accused of a tax fraud and had been sentenced to 21 months in prison alongside his father but neither of them is unlikely to face the jail as under Spanish law a sentence of two years can be served as probation.
Manchester City have been pursuing the signing of the marquee player for the last couple of years and with Guardiola as their manager, the move could be realistically possible. Guardiola was at the helm of Barcelona and is partially responsible for Messi’s development throughout the years.
City are ready to give him a £500,000 per week contract that will make him the highest-paid player in the Premier League if he does opt to move.
