Manchester United will once again face off against Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium on Wednesday night looking to win and secure progression into the next round of the EFL Cup. The Red Devils managed to beat the Seagulls with a last-minute penalty in the Premier League last weekend. However, Graham Potter’s men could be out for revenge as they felt hard done by the VAR call, which decided the outcome of their previous meeting with the Mancunian outfit.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will probably opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and could be inclined to make a lot of tweaks for this upcoming cup encounter in midweek.

Defence
Dean Henderson will return to play in between the sticks for the Red Devils after he kept a clean sheet against Luton Town in the last round of the EFL Cup. Eric Bailly will resume his defensive partnership with Harry Maguire at the heart of the Man United backline as they try to produce a solid performance at the back versus the Seagulls later this week.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will continue to operate at right-back while Brandon Williams fills in on the other side as the left-back. Both Man United full-backs will have to work hard to stop the Brighton attackers from getting in behind them. They will also have to make some clever runs so that they can stretch the pitch and open up more spaces for their teammates in the opposition half.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic will anchor the midfield along with Fred as they focus on putting in a dominant performance at the centre of the park. The attacking trio of Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek and Juta Mata will resume their alliance in the decisive third of the field.
Scott McTominay will have to be content with a place on the bench but could come on to provide some fresh energy in midfield if needed.
Attack
Odion Ighalo will spearhead Solskjaer’s attack up top. He needs to get his name on the scoresheet when he faces off against the Brighton defenders in midweek. Both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial could be handed a rest on the bench. Solskjaer will only use them as the impact substitutes if his side require a late goal in the game.
