Premiership giants Celtic continued their march towards the top spot on the league table after a comfortable 3-0 victory against Hibernian today. The reigning champions were in control of proceedings from the off, and despite the opposition having a few dangerous chances, at no point did the Celts look uncomfortable on the pitch. Callum McGregor opened the scoring with a driven strike from outside the box before Albian Ajeti scored the second. Mohamed Elyounoussi backed up his midweek winner with the third goal of the evening, to give Neil Lennon’s side a much-needed clean sheet.
Here Are The Celtic Player Ratings Vs Hibernian:
Celtic Player Ratings Vs Hibernian
Vasilis Barkas – 6
Apart from one shot which bounced awkwardly in front of him, the Greek keeper didn’t have too much to deal with in terms of making saves. Comfortable with the ball at his feet too.
Kristoffer Ajer – 6.5
The promising young centre-half was beaten too easily on a couple of occasions but made up for it with his play on the ball. Made some smart runs into the Hibs half to try and create.
Shane Duffy – 5.5
The big Irishman had what was arguably his worst game in a Celtic shirt so far, as he looked shaky every time the ball came in his direction. Had some loose touches and lacked concentration at times as well.
Nir Bitton – 8
The stand-in centre-half put in a solid defensive shift once again and warrants a place in the team ahead of Christopher Jullien. Confident in possession and never looked flustered either.
Jeremie Frimpong – 9
The speedster was, without a doubt, the best player on the pitch. Gave the Hibs defenders a torrid time with his direct approach, while his crossing was right on the money tonight as well.
Callum McGregor – 7
The midfield ace continues to impress in the Celtic engine room, as his passing and movement were both efficient for the most part. Opened the scoring with a quite sensational strike from outside the box.
Scott Brown – 6.5
Although Brown didn’t make any mistakes as such, he wasn’t able to protect the back-line in a very efficient manner. Some nice touches in the core of the side and looked sharp with his passing.
Greg Taylor – 5.5
The dependable full-back failed to deliver his usual quality from wide on the evening, as he took multiple poor touches in the final third. Despite the odd cross into the area, he generally struggled.
Ryan Christie – 5
The forward was far from his usual best tonight as he failed to produce any meaningful contributions in the attack. Was taken off at half-time by Lennon and replaced by Turnbull.
Albian Ajeti – 6.5
The summer signing looked sharp in the final third and continued his good run of form with another goal. Had an issue with his hamstring and was taken off before the half-time break.
Mohamed Elyounoussi – 7.5
The Southampton loanee looked a class above all of the other attackers on the pitch, and with good reason. His goal in the late stages was a perfect indicator of what he brings to this Celtic team.
Substitutes
Odsonne Edouard – 6
The Frenchman tried to link up play and make things happen in attack, but looks like a shadow of the player he was last season. Wasn’t able to find any clear-cut chances either.
David Turnbull – 7
The summer signing was thrown on at half-time, and is sure to give Lennon some selection concerns over the coming weeks. Neat and composed on the ball and looked sharp off it.
Patryk Klimala – NA
Didn’t have time to make an impact.
Olivier Ntcham – NA
Didn’t have time to make an impact.
Ismaila Soro – NA
Didn’t have time to make an impact.
