Daniel Stendel’s appointment as Manager of Hearts was met with a lot of excitement back in December last year…
Fans were over-the-moon to finally have a Head Coach who favoured attack-minded football over a tactical, defensive approach. Supporters were unanimous in their view that Ann Budge had made the right choice to dig the club out of the hole it was in and start moving in the right direction.
So, what went wrong?
A few months after the German’s protracted exit from Hearts – after the SPFL decided to demote the club to the Championship – we caught up over Zoom to talk it all through.
In the podcast you’ll find out all about Daniel’s playing career, his philosophy on football, his coaching experience, thoughts on his times in charge of Hannover 96 and Barnsley and we took a deep-dive on everything that happened during his short spell at Hearts…
… and as a Hearts fan myself, it was great to finally get the opportunity to ask Daniel if he was the right man for Hearts, at the wrong time.
