West Ham United will clash heads with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night hoping to pick up something from this upcoming London derby in the Premier League. The Hammers were well-beaten by Newcastle United in the opening weekend of this campaign, but they managed to bounce back versus Charlton Athletic by securing a 3-0 win over them in the second round of the EFL Cup in midweek.
David Moyes will set-up his team in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could probably name the same team that started versus the Magpies last weekend.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Arsenal
Defence
Łukasz Fabiański will return to the lineup as Moyes’ first-choice keeper after being rested in the victory over Charlton in midweek. Issa Diop will operate alongside Angelo Ogbonna at the centre of the Hammers backline as they try to minimalise the impact of Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Willian during the 90 minutes.
Ryan Fredericks was not involved in the EFL Cup, so he will be guaranteed a place at right-back. Aaron Cresswell will once again operate as West Ham’s left-back as he looks to put in another tireless display in both halves of the field.
Ben Johnson and Fabian Balbuena will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench following their heavy involvement in midweek.
Midfield
Declan Rice will play along with Tomas Soucek in the middle of the park as they try to stop the Gunners from dominating possession inside their half. The midfield duo will also have to figure out a way to get on the ball and orchestrate some decent openings for their teammates going forward.
The talented trio of Pablo Fornals, Mark Noble and Jarrod Bowen will hope to link up with each other while operating just ahead of them as part of the West Ham attacking midfield. All three men will have to find a way to cause a few problems for the Arsenal defenders on the counter.
Robert Snodgrass and Andriy Yarmolenko will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to feature as the second-half substitutes if needed.
Attack
Michail Antonio will get the responsibility to lead the line for the East London side up top. The English striker will focus on putting his pace to good use when running the channels for West Ham in the decisive end of the field.
Sebastien Haller will once again have to settle for a spot on the bench as he awaits his chance to make an impact during the latter stages of the contest.
