According to Goal, Sheffield United are among clubs interested in Leon Dajaku. The Bayern Munich youth player is desperate to leave the club’s reserve side on loan this summer, in search of regular game-time at a higher level of football.
Jahn Regensburg were keen on signing Dajaku, but the player prefers a move abroad rather than playing in the second division. It has now put Premier League outfit Sheffield United on red alert, although the Blades could face stiff competition from US Sassuolo, Torino FC and even fellow English club, Swansea City.
Who Is Leon Dajaku?
A product of the Stuttgart youth academy, Dajaku joined Bayern Munich reserve side last summer, for a fee of €1.5 million. He is regarded as one of the most talented players to come out of the VfB academy in recent years, so the rather expensive transfer fee made sense.
A right-winger by trade, Dajaku made 29 appearances for FC Bayern II last season, scoring four goals and registering four assists. He impressed the onlookers with his blistering pace and an ability to drift past opposing defenders.
Additionally, the German is adept at running into open spaces, which often become useful when probing the opposition. His style of play, in fact, bear a resemblance to Germany’s footballing superstar Marco Reus.
Does He Have A Future At Bayern Munich?
At the age of 19, Dajaku understandably needs to play at a higher level of football if he is to make a mark in Europe.
As far as Bayern Munich are concerned, however, it is unlikely the youngster will be making a breakthrough in the senior side anytime soon.
The Bavarians have already bolstered their wide-attacking department with the addition of Leroy Sane while players like Joshua Zirkzee and Oliver Batista Meier are starting to push for a place in the first-team.
It leaves Dajaku as an outsider, and the 19-year-old will mostly have to be content with a regular place in Bayern Munich’s reserve team, playing in 3. Liga next season.
Why Flick Must Offload Dajaku
Dajaku is, no doubt, one of the most talented players in Bayern’s reserve side. But, he must make a move elsewhere in order to get regular game-time at a higher level.
Sheffield United, as discussed earlier, are one of the clubs interested in his services. They might not be a bad suitor either as Chris Wilder likes to rely on his young players rather than spend lavishly in the market.
Swansea City might be an ideal destination as well, as Dajaku will have the chance to become a first-choice winger for the Championship outfit while both Sassuolo and Torino aren’t bad choices either.
All of these four clubs are capable of nurturing young talents and should offer Dajaku an ideal platform to showcase his qualities at a higher level of football. However, Bayern Munich simply cannot afford to concede a permanent buy clause in the potential loan deal of this German whizkid.
