According to BBC Sport’s Adam Pope, Quasim Bouy is set to run down his contract at Leeds United. The midfielder’s current deal at Elland Road expires at the end of the 2020/21 campaign but faces a barren future at the club despite having Mino Raiola as his agent.
To a question asked by a follower on Twitter, Pope replied, “I think Bouy’s could run down. Sometimes these contracts make more financial sense to do so rather than paying up a player early. Unless of course someone wants to take him off #lufc hands.”.

Quasim Bouy’s Story at Leeds United
A product of the famed Ajax youth academy, Bouy joined Leeds United back in 2017, on a free transfer from Juventus, thus ending a five-year spell with the Bianconeri.
However, Bouy’s fortunes barely changed, following his move to Elland Road. Just a day after his transfer, the holding midfielder was immediately loaned out to Cultural Leonesa in the Spanish lower division. It was followed by yet another loan spell at PEC Zwolle in 2018.
The Moroccan failed to make a huge impact at either of those clubs, especially at Zwolle where he had shone before.
Last summer, however, Bouy remained a part of Leeds United senior side, and quite unsurprisingly, he failed to make a single appearance for the club in any competition, ultimately finding himself deep down the pecking order.
Does He Have A Future At The Club?
Leeds United are yet to sign a central midfielder this summer, which indicates Marcelo Bielsa’s full faith on some of the club’s emerging talents such as Alfie McCalmont and Robbie Gotts.
Both of them have shone in the youth levels and are braced to make an impact for the club in the upcoming campaign. Jamie Shackleton is also pushing Mateusz Klich for a place in the starting lineup next season.
Adam Forshaw hasn’t played since September but is slowly nearing his return to the pitch while youngster Mateusz Bogusz will be hoping for a potential breakthrough at Elland Road, much like McCalmont and Gotts.
Such competition in the midfield department suggests that Bouy’s fortunes aren’t going to change any time soon. In fact, keeping hold of the midfielder for another season seems rather absurd given the fact that the Moroccan is of no use to the first-team.
A permanent transfer away from Elland Road this summer could bode well for all parties involved, although it is unreasonable to expect any appealing suitor for the 27-year-old at the moment.
