Reigning Premiership champions Celtic got back to winning ways in the league tonight after picking up an important three points against Dundee United. The match finished 1-0 to the away side, and it took a league debut goal for summer acquisition Albian Ajeti for Neil Lennon’s side to secure all three points. The likes of Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard created a flurry of chances all through the fixture, but they were halted by a combined effort from the United keeper and the frame of the goal. Despite their utter dominance though, the gaffer should be concerned about the fact that they were only able to beat Siegrist on a single instance tonight.
Here Are The Celtic Player Ratings Vs Dundee United:
Celtic Player Ratings Vs Dundee United
Vasilis Barkas – 6.5
The Greek stopper was rarely tested by the Dundee United attack as the Hoops’ defence line stood firm for the most part. Collected well from crosses into the box and looked composed on the ball.
Jeremie Frimpong – 7.5
The speedster provided the away side with a constant out-ball at the back, and his energetic running was often too much for the United defenders to deal with. Overlapped on every possible chance.
Christopher Jullien – 7
The big defender put in a dominant shift at the back as he made a couple of important blocks in the early knocking of the tie. Passed the ball around with extreme comfort as well.
Nir Bitton – 6.5
The stand-in centre-half did misplace a couple of passes over the course of the ninety, but he was secure when called upon defensively. Played some good passes out from the back too.
Greg Taylor – 7.5
As his partner on the opposite side, Taylor used the wide areas quite efficiently tonight. Made multiple lung-busting runs and played some delectable crosses into the area as well.
Scott Brown – 6.5
The veteran put himself about in the middle of the park and tried to ensure that Celtic won the ball back quickly. Offered an assured voice in the engine room by prompting the attackers to keep pushing.
Callum McGregor – 7
The midfielder was at the heart of every attack this Celtic team produced tonight as he played a variety of key passes in the final third. Picked up a more advanced position than usual and looked composed.
Olivier Ntcham – 6.5
The Frenchman was brought into the team in place of James Forrest tonight, and he slotted into the number ten role. Made a few sharp turns but needs to work on delivering better crosses into the box.
Ryan Christie – 7
The attacker was all over the United defence for the entirety of the ninety but wasted a flurry of chances to open the scoring. Found the required penetration, albeit without end-product.
Mohamed Elyounoussi – 6.5
The Southampton loanee had a flurry of excellent moments in attack, but he wasn’t able to find that final touch. Made some sharp forward runs and delivered a few decent crosses too.
Odsonne Edouard – 7
The Frenchman was all over the Dundee United back-line right from the opening knockings of the fixture, but he was kept at bay by the brilliant efforts of Siegrist in goal. Held the ball up pretty well too.
