Rangers have temporarily climbed to the top of the Premiership table after a convincing 2-0 victory against Kilmarnock. The home side started the fixture well in the ascendancy, and despite a flurry of decent chances in the first half, they were unable to break the deadlock. The second-half triggered a different sort of response from this Gers side, as they all seemed to enter the pitch with a clear goal in mind. The opener was scored by summer acquisition Kemar Roofe before Ryan Kent found their assurance goal a few minutes later. With five league games gone by and not a single goal conceded so far, Gerrard will be more than happy with the start that his team has made this season.
Here Are The Rangers Player Ratings Vs Kilmarnock:
Rangers Player Ratings Vs Kilmarnock
Jon McLaughlin – 6.5
The stopper wasn’t called into action on too many occasions by the Killie attackers. Dealt with crosses into the box efficiently and tried to release the ball quickly after collecting as well.
James Tavernier – 7
The skipper put in a solid shift down the flank as he bombarded forward on every possible opportunity. Delivered some neat balls into the area and performed his defensive duties well too.
Connor Goldson – 7
The big centre-half wasn’t given the hardest time by the Kilmarnock attackers as the home side were in full control in the second period. Calm in the possession and played some good passes out too.
Filip Helander – 7
The stand-in central defender barely put a foot wrong as he came close to scoring on the opposite end as well. Dealt with crosses from wide in an effective manner and looked composed on the ball.
Borna Barisic – 7
The speedster maintained an extremely high starting position all through the fixture, and it was his low cross into the box that led to the opener. Consistently tried to make attacking inroads.
Ryan Jack – 7.5
The Scottish midfielder ran the show from his position in the core of this Rangers team. Got on the ball quite a bit when they dominated and ensured they maintained a good tempo in the second half.
Steven Davis – 6.5
The veteran midfielder wasn’t able to impact the tie in the manner he would have liked, but still put in a decent enough shift. Offered himself as a good passing option in a couple of tight situations.
Brandon Barker – 7.5
The speedster showed great imagination while attacking for Gerrard’s side today as he looked the likeliest to produce some quality in the first half. Made some dangerous runs into space as well.
Ryan Kent – 7
The former Liverpool ace worked his socks off on the flank but just seemed to be lacking the required cutting edge today. Stepped up when it mattered and came up with a composed finish though.
Kemar Roofe (Roffe) – 7.5
The Jamaican striker got his Rangers goal-tally off the mark today after opening the scoring for Gerrard’s side in the second half. Hit the post earlier on in the tie and looked sharp in possession.
Cedric Itten – 7
The Swiss striker wasn’t able to have the desired impact in attack, but he cannot be faulted for his work-rate or desire. Made a nuisance of himself in the box and perhaps deserved a goal for all his efforts.
