Bayern Munich will be eyeing their sixth European cup title when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the UEFA Champions League on Sunday. The Bavarians are in red hot form heading into this game, having crushed teams like Barcelona, Chelsea and Olympique Lyon. But, they will be well aware of PSG’s strength, especially with ex-Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel at the helm.
Predicted Bayern Munich Lineup Vs PSG
Defence
Hansi Flick did the sensible task of taking Jerome Boateng off in the second half against Olympique Lyon. Despite being a minor doubt, the German is once again expected to retain his place at the heart of Bayern Munich’s four-man backline, alongside David Alaba. Both of them will face a daunting task of keeping the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe at bay this weekend.
Bayern do, however, have a reliable pair of hands in between the sticks in the shape of Manuel Neuer. The German international has been excellent in the knockout rounds of the Champions League so far and will be hoping to retain a clean sheet against PSG.
Elsewhere, Benjamin Pavard returned from his injury by featuring as a substitute against Lyon in the last game. Therefore, he is in contention to start on Sunday, although he won’t, given the Frenchman’s lack of game-time. It should see Joshua Kimmich retain his role at right-back. Alphonso Davies, meanwhile, is a guaranteed starter on the opposite flank.
Midfield
Flick has no reason to make any changes to his trusted midfield combination of Leon Goretzka and Thiago Alcantara. But, these two must maintain their shape and cannot afford to make any mistakes against a PSG side, who are more than capable of creating turnovers in the middle of the park and initiating quick counter-attacks.
In that sense, Flick would have preferred the much more composed nature of Kimmich in the holding midfield role. Fortunately for the German this time, he does have a choice, and it will be interesting to see whether he opts to bring in Pavard later in the game.
Attack
The Bayern Munich attack should also remain unchanged with Robert Lewandowski leading the line. The Pole will be partnered by the creative trifecta of Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller and Ivan Perisic. Gnabry was the hero in the last game, and the German international would be hoping for a similar outing this weekend.
Philippe Coutinho and Kingsley Coman are further options for Flick in the attacking department.
