Goal.com has recently mentioned that Newcastle United are among several clubs hoping to land Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster on loan this summer. However, it is believed that the Reds will only decide on his future after giving the English prospect a chance to prove his worth in pre-season. Goal.com has also revealed that the Magpies will have to fight it out with Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa in pursuit of the England U-21 international during this summer transfer period.
Brewster’s Impressive Loan Spell With The Swans
The 20-year-old struggled to make his mark in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team last season, which is why he was loaned out to Swansea City back in January. Brewster enjoyed a brilliant six-month loan stay at the Liberty Stadium in the previous campaign as he produced several mesmerising displays for them in the EFL Championship.
The London-born youngster banged in 11 goals in 22 matches for the Welsh outfit but ended the season in disappointment as the Swans were defeated over two legs by Brentford in the Championship playoff semifinals. He averaged 2.5 shots, 0.5 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game in the second tier of England, but could only manage to complete 64.2% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Still, it was overall a very productive loan spell for Brewster which would give him a lot of confidence heading into the pre-season training with the Reds this summer. Klopp has proven himself to be an ideal judge of character during his time as the manager of Liverpool, so he will be expected to make the right call with regards to Brewster’s future later this year. If the German head coach decides to send him out on loan, then Steve Bruce’s Newcastle could be an attractive destination for the English starlet as he will get a proper shot of earning regular game time at St. James’ Park.

Brewster has got electric pace which he can use to get in behind the opposition defenders or run the channels out on the wide areas. The talented striker excels at finding space for himself inside the opposition penalty area so that he can get a few shots in on-target. The Liverpool whizkid is also a decent dribbler with the ball, but can sometimes throw away possession cheaply which he needs to address if he intends to prove his worth in the Premier League next season. Will Recruiting Brewster On Loan Be A Wise Choice For Bruce?
The Magpies have currently got Joelinton, Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll and Yoshinori Muto fighting for the right to lead the line under Bruce’s tutelage. However, none of them managed to find consistency in terms of their all-round performances as the focal point of the Newcastle attack.
Thus, an up-and-coming attacker like Brewster could breathe new life to Bruce’s attack and could help the Tyneside giants steer clear of the relegation zone if they can find a way to bring him to St. James’ Park on loan this summer.
