West Ham United will clash heads with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening hoping to pull off a major upset on the road. The Hammers have won back-to-back games in the Premier League and are enjoying a decent run of form. However, they can expect to come up against a freshly wounded Man United side that will be desperate to make amends after their 3-1 loss against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals.
David Moyes will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might be inclined to name an unchanged team for this clash away at the Theatre of Dreams.
4-2-3-1 West Ham United Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Łukasz Fabiański will get the nod to operate in goal for the London outfit despite failing to keep a clean sheet against Watford in his last outing. Angelo Ogbonna will once again partner Issa Diop at the heart of the West Ham defence as they try to keep Man United’s Anthony Martial in check during the game in midweek.
Ben Johnson could get another shot to impress at right-back while Aaron Cresswell fills in on the other side as the left-back. Moyes will ask both his full-backs to stay back and soak in the opposition pressure before threatening them on the counter.
Midfield
Tomas Soucek has been enjoying an excellent run of form since the Premier League’s restart. Hence, he will be guaranteed a place alongside Declan Rice at the centre of the park. They would both try to work hard in stopping the Red Devils from dominating the midfield battle this weekend. The industrious attacking trio of Jarrod Bowen, Mark Noble and Pablo Fornals will play just ahead of them as part of Moyes’ attack.
Noble has enjoyed playing in the number ten role in recent weeks while both Fornals and Bowen will be responsible for getting to the byline so that they can whip in some inviting crosses for Antonio up top. Robert Snodgrass is unlikely to recover in time for this contest, but Manuel Lanzini should be fit to start on the bench.
Attack
Michail Antonio will spearhead the West Ham attack in the final third. The English striker has banged in five goals in his past two starts, so he will fancy his chances of exposing the Man United defensive weaknesses at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
