From what we have seen so far, Rangers are clearly not good enough to challenge their arch rivals Celtic for the title. Perhaps we expected too much from them. After four long years, the Gers are finally in the Premiership and matching up with the quality of a team like Celtic, who have won five straight Premiership titles, was too much ask. Maybe next season, Rangers can come up with a proper title challenge but they should aim for the runners-up finish this campaign.
Rangers will host lowly-placed Dundee at Ibrox on Saturday in the Premiership. The Gers are third in the table right now, sitting one point ahead of Hearts and St. Johnstone and one place behind Aberdeen. They need to win this game at any cost and Dundee are not even a contest for them on paper. The Tangerines are 11th placed right now with just 11 points and need a serious fightback to improve their season.
Here is the predicted Rangers lineup against Dundee.
Defence
Wes Foderingham should keep his place under the bar with ease ahead of veteran Matt Gilks. Even though Lee Hodson has never disappointed when he was given the opportunity, James Tavernier remains the first-choice at right-back mainly thanks to his excellent attacking forays from the right flank.
Tavernier is expected to keep his place at right-back. Skipper Lee Wallace will keep his place at left-back. Even though Danny Wilson is back from injury, Warburton will find it hard to drop veteran Clint Hill who is enjoying his game right now and scored against Ross County before the international break. We, therefore, expect Hill to keep his place at the heart of the defence alongside Rob Kiernan.
Midfield
Andy Halliday has been impressive this season at the base of the three-man midfield with his all-round display and a fantastic energy and the Scotsman should keep his place out there. With Halliday protecting the back four, Jason Holt and Josh Windass should keep their respective place in midfield and will play in box to box roles. Both of them are young and energetic and Warburton will want the trio to boss the midfield area.
Attack
Joe Garner is likely to start up front as the number nine. Kenny Miller is likely to start on the left flank. Michael O’Halloran will start on the right-hand side of the three-man attack.
