Real Madrid have registered their ninth consecutive victory with a 2-1 win at the Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes. Los Blancos are now favorites to win the Primera Division title with just two more matchdays left.
French duo, Ferland Mendy, and Karim Benzema scored early in the first half with both their goals coming within a space of merely six minutes. Granada’s Machis grabbed one goal back for the hosts after a sloppy loss of possession by Casemiro near the half-way line. Zidane would be a little disappointed after conceding that goal, bringing to end a streak of five clean-sheets.
Interestingly, the Real Madrid gaffer made only two substitutions throughout the game. Despite having a lot of options on the bench, Zidane chose to not make any more substitutions post the double switch in the 63rd minute in which Asensio and Rodrygo were brought on.
Here’s how Los Blancos players rated in their 2-1 victory against Granada.
Real Madrid Players Rated In Win Versus Granada
Courtois – 9/10
A man of the match deserving performance from Courtois who pulled off some crucial saves throughout the game. He would be gutted that the ball went through his legs for Granada’s first goal.
Dani Carvajal – 8/10
A good performance from Carvajal on his return to the starting eleven.
Raphael Varane – 8/10
Right on top of his game like always, Varane was rock-solid in defense today. Zidane would be extremely pleased with his performance.
Sergio Ramos – 8/10
Sergio Ramos was certainly missed in the last fixture and Real Madrid looked far more comfortable in defense with his presence. Ramos made an astonishing goal-line clearance in the dying minutes of the game to save the day for Los Blancos.
Ferland Mendy – 9/10
A splendid evening for Mendy who scored the opening goal of the fixture with a spectacular finish. Mendy was constantly spotted high up the pitch.
Casemiro – 7/10
An uncharacteristic mistake from Casemiro in the build-up to Machis’ goal. The Brazilian never really sets a foot wrong and his error made the match extremely interesting from the neutrals perspective.
Toni Kroos – 8/10
Commanding display from Kroos in midfield. The German midfielder displayed tremendous work rate and was seen pressing the opposition right until the final whistle.
Luka Modric – 9/10
A standout performance from Luka Modric who seems to be aging like wine. The Croatian set things clicking for Madrid in midfield.
Federico Valverde – 8/10
The Uruguayan toiled hard and seemed extremely worn out by the 60-minute mark. The congested fixture list seems to be finally showing its effect on the players along with the hot Spanish climate.
Isco – 8/10
The Spaniard would be delighted with his return to the starting eleven. Isco was industrious on the night and displayed his dribbling abilities on a couple of occasions.
Karim Benzema – 9/10
Karim Benzema has once again delivered when it mattered for Zidane & Co. The prolific striker struck Madrid’s second goal of the night around the 16-minute mark.
Substitutes
Marco Asensio – 7/10
Asensio was energetic and diligent post his arrival. The attacker replaced Isco on the field of play.
Rodrygo – 8/10
Rodrygo was a lively and zestful introduction by Zidane around the 60-minute mark. The teenager was an absolute joy to watch.
