Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United passed up an opportunity to enter the top three of the Premier League table tonight after falling to a 2-2 draw against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton side. The Saints got off to a flying start and opened the scoring through Stuart Armstrong. United’s response though, was quick and clinical. Marcus Rashford and Antonio Martial scored twice within the space of a few minutes to regain the advantage. After a second period flooded with wave after wave of Saints attacks, it took a 96th minute header by Michael Obafemi to earn the away side a valuable point.

David De Gea – 6
The Spaniard made a couple of sensational saves over the course of the fixture, but was helpless with regard to both the goals. Tried to release the United attackers quickly though.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6.5
The former Palace man defended strongly against the Saints attackers, but wasn’t given the most comfortable time by Nathan Redmond down that side. Tried to get forward at every possible instance.
Victor Lindelof – 6.5
The centre-half did an effective job at the back for United tonight as he didn’t allow the dangerous Southampton attackers space to run in behind. Made some important blocks along the way as well.
Harry Maguire – 6.5
The Manchester United skipper commandeered the back-line in an efficient manner tonight, and he made multiple key clearances over the course of the ninety. Composed on the ball too.
Luke Shaw – 6.5
The Englishman didn’t have his most influential outing in an United shirt, but he overlapped on every possible opportunity. Had some good touches and didn’t defend all that badly either.
Paul Pogba – 6
The Frenchman had his worst game back since returning to the first-team tonight, as it was his giveaway that led to the Saints’ opener. Didn’t pose the threat he usually does from the core of the side.
Nemanja Matic – 6.5
The Serbian dropped into the space in between Maguire and Lindelof when Southampton attacked, and he did a decent job in the United engine room. Looked composed in possession.
Mason Greenwood – 5
The youngster had very few touches down the right flank tonight as he struggled to get into the thick of things. Tried to make inroads, but was constantly halted by the Southampton back-line.
Bruno Fernandes – 5.5
The spectacular Portuguese was far from his best today as he struggled to find that final ball in attack. Set-piece delivery wasn’t the best, but he linked up play fairly efficiently in the Southampton third.
Marcus Rashford – 7
Rashford linked up superbly with the likes of Martial and Fernandes in the final third, and he took his goal in great style as well. Made a couple of darting runs through the heart of the Saints’ defence.
Anthony Martial – 7.5
The Frenchman was the Red Devils’ best player on the pitch tonight, as he worked tirelessly off the ball all through the fixture. Assisted Rashford’s opener before smashing home the second himself.

The Brazilian wasn’t allowed too much time on the ball after coming on as the Southampton onslaught in the late stages was continuous. Was switched over to left-back after Williams went off.
