Newcastle United and their takeover bid are still in deep waters with multiple problems cropping up one after the other. However, amid all these, the club would like to end the season on a high and head into the break with aplomb. After suffering a loss against Watford in the weekend, the Magpies are heading into the clash against Tottenham on Wednesday looking to grab all three points.
This is easier said than done as the Spurs are also coming into this match on the back of a memorable win against Arsenal and Mourinho’s men should be high on confidence. We take a look at how Newcastle United could lineup against the London side in the next match.
Predicted 4-3-3 Newcastle United Lineup Vs Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Martin Dubravka will take up his usual position under the sticks as he has not given the manager too many chances to complain. Danny Rose would be ineligible to play in this match as his loan agreement states that he cannot take the field against his parent club. In his absence, Javier Manquillo will play as the left-back for the side.
That means Emil Krafth will ply his trade at the right-back position. Both these full-backs will look to utilise the width on the field. The two centre-backs for the Magpies should be Federico Fernandez and Jamaal Lascelles. Both these men will have to keep the Spurs attackers at bay that had breached the Arsenal defence twice on Sunday.
Midfield
Jonjo Shelvey is a sure starter, and the former Liverpool star would be a key man for Steve Bruce if he has to take home something from the match. With Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden injured, the gaffer is short of options, and thus we can expect Fabian Schar and Miguel Almiron to partner Shelvey at the heart of the midfield. All these players would have to be at their best to restrain the London club from running away with the match.
Attack
Allan Saint-Maximin has suffered a knock, but he should be fit enough to take the field in the midweek clash. His absence could have been a considerable blow for Bruce as Andy Carroll is also uncertain for this game with an injury. Apart from Maximin, Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle should lead the line for Newcastle United.
Gayle had his name on the score-sheet against Watford the other night, although eventually, he ended up on the losing side.
